Lump

There is a lump in my throat. It grows every time I am around someone who I think has a dominant trait. It's painful and makes swallowing unbearable. At the same time, my eyes well and large droplets fall down my cheeks.

This has been years in the making. Every time it happens, it's exhausting and self-perpetuating. It reaffirms, 'There is something wrong with me'. Those in positions of power remain cold and collected, while I feel vulnerable and small... All over again.

I wish people knew these responses were not done for attention. I do not willingly carry this lump. Talking therapies have helped permeate it, uncovering some important learnings and showing the potential gold within. But I need more than just to be told that the only offer for further support is antidepressants.
